Retaining the title and a maiden WAFCON is on the line for Scorchers as they face Madagascar on Saturday in their second group match.
In the last four meetings between the two sides Malawi has triumphed over Madagascar with the latest result ending 3-1 in the 2023 Cosafa Women’s Championship.
Lovemore Fazili is banking on their superiority to reign on Saturday as they need goals to redeem themselves.
He has however expressed hope with the coming in of TP Mazembe striker Sabina Thom that has boosted the attacking muscle of the team.
“We need goals in this match that is why we will alternate our system and even change personnel to realise our goals and also Sabina’s arrival has boosted our attacking mode hence we are optimistic of getting the much needed result,” said Fazili.
Commenting on how Madagascar have improved their game, Fazili said they will not underrate them and they will be cautious enough.
Madagascar have rolled out their 2024 campaign with a 5-1 win against Mauritius and they are currently top group B. Malawi played to a 1-all draw against Botswana in their opening match.
