With five minutes of added time during Silver Strikers match against Mafco FC, Silver Strikers supporter entered the pitch and poured urine on Mafco FC goalkeeper, Christopher Mikuwa.
The development disappointed the Mafco technical panel such that they had a disagreement with stewards who were just watching without stopping the Silver fan.
After the match, when Mafco players were making their way to the dressing room, another Silver Strikers supporter poured liquid substances on Mafco players.
Following this, Silver Strikers has issued a statement condemning this unacceptable behaviour exhibited by their supporters.
In the statement, the Central Bankers emphasized that such conducts are contrary to the values of fair play, respect and professionalism.
The club has further apologized to Mafco players, technical team, match officials and Mafco supporters.
“Such conduct is utterly contrary to the fair play, respect and professionalism that Silver Strikers Football Club stands for.”
“We extend our sincere apologies to the affected Mafco players, their technical team, match officials and all supporters present,” reads part of the statement.
Additionally the statement has stated that the club will cooperate with authorities in the investigation of such incidents.
The statement has finally announced the launching of an internal review and strengthening of security measures to prevent similar incidents.
Silver stumble at home to Mafco
On Thursday, Silver Strikers failed to go on position three at home following a goalless draw against Mafco in the TNM Super League.
The match started with the Central Bankers enjoying the ball at their home ground. A number of chances were created but no goal was scored in the first half.
In the second half, tensions were high with both teams looking for a goal to collect maximum points. Despite enjoying the game, Bankers failed to find the back of the net.
Silver coach Peter Mgangira said: “We are not happy with one point at home, after creating so many chances; we need to polish up our attacking third.”
Mafco coach Sterio Gondwe has expressed his satisfaction: “To get one point I think is a better way, you know Silver Strikers is a good team at home and we managed to contain them and get a point.”
Mafco goalkeeper, Christopher Mikuwa was voted man of the match.
