Silver strikes out soldiers from Salima

Silver Strikers maintained their winning streak at home when they outclassed Mafco 5-1 on Saturday afternoon in their third home match of the TNM Super League.

Silver Strikers head coach Peter Mponda made three changes to the side that drew 1-all last week in Dedza by awarding Charles Chipala his first start for the team with Nickson Mwase and Tatenda M’balaka. M’balaka was back after being sidelined due to an injury.

The Chitowe soldiers who are still in search of their first win of the season took the lead at 13 minutes through Martial Maluwa following a miscommunication between George Chikooka and his defence.

Silver continued pushing for an equaliser that never came until at 32 minutes when Chipala lobed in a ball to Binwell Katinji in the box who was fouled by Kameza for Alfred Chilinda to award a penalty to them, that Katinji converted nicely to level the scores.

Come second half it was the home team that snatched the lead at 48 minutes when Adiel Kaduya slotted in a ball he received from Katinji.  It was the Bankers top scorer Kaduya who extended the lead at 55 minutes when he completed beautifully an attack orchestrated by M’balaka to Katinji.

It was now a one -sided affair as the Bankers displayed their usual passing game no wonder M’balaka registered his name on the scoresheet at 60 minutes.

Patrick Macheso added the icing on the cake when he scored in the added time to give the Bankers the highest score margin this far in the campaign.

With the win Silver Strikers top the standings with 10 points from 4 games, while Mafco are winless and they are third from bottom with just 2 points from the same number of games.
