Stadium unavailability continues to disrupt week eight fixtures

What was expected to be a straightforward build-up to Week Eight of the FDH Bank Premiership has instead been marked by shifting venues and changing schedules, as stadium unavailability continues to disrupt the fixture list.

The first round of changes came a day ago when the Super League of Malawi (SULOM) announced that the FCB Nyasa Big Bullets versus Masters FC fixture, originally scheduled for Mpira Stadium, had been moved to Joyce Chitsulo Stadium due to the unavailability of Mpira Stadium.

In the same communication, SULOM also confirmed that the Silver Strikers versus Red Lions match had been moved from Saturday to Sunday because Silver Stadium would not be available.

At the time, the adjustments appeared to have resolved the situation, with only the venue and match date affected while kick-off times remained unchanged.

However, the fixture list took another turn just 24 hours later.

In a fresh notice issued on Friday, SULOM announced that the FCB Nyasa Big Bullets versus Masters FC fixture had been rescheduled once again. The match has now been moved from Saturday to Monday, 29 June 2026, and will be played at Mpira Stadium after both Mpira and Joyce Chitsulo stadiums were declared unavailable on Saturday.

The latest changes leave only two matches scheduled for Saturday, with Chitipa United hosting Kamuzu Barracks and Luanar Mitundu FC facing Blue Eagles.

Sunday’s programme will feature GC Dedza Dynamos against Mighty Wanderers, Ekhaya FC against MAFCO FC, Karonga United against Moyale FC, and Creck Sporting Club against Civil Service United. The rescheduled fixture between Silver Strikers and Red Lions will also be played on Sunday.

The Week Eight action will conclude on Monday when FCB Nyasa Big Bullets host Masters FC at Mpira Stadium.
