Global online and betting brand, Betway, has today sealed a deal to partner Super League of Malawi giants, Silver Strikers.
The deal, to the tune of 65 million kwacha, will see Betway occupy the front of the Silver Strikers jersey.
This is the first time that Betway has made a huge investment to a local football club in Malawi.
For Silver, the day marked a pivotal moment as Betway brought them their first every jersey sponsorship since the elite laws were revised in the country.
This is also the most lucrative deal on top of the sponsorship support they receive from the Reserve Bank of Malawi.
Betway’s Chief Operating officer for Malawi, Charles Phiri said his company’s investment in Silver Strikers aims at making a lasting impact in football.
“Wherever the Betway brand is present, we seek to invest in the local sports industry as it is a driving factor in improving the communities within the country; this just marks the beginning of our journey”, said Phiri.
In his remarks, Silver Strikers CEO Patrick Chimimba expressed his team’s commitment to be successful on the pitch, not just for the sponsorship but for their fans and communities that drive them forward.
“Working alongside Betway is a privilege and we’re excited about the possibilities for Silver Strikers and our community and we’ll achieve greatness, setting new standards in sports development”, he said.
If Chimimba was being diplomatic, Reserve Bank of Malawi Deputy governor Macdonald Mafuta Mwale confirmed, “tipweteka ma team”.
