Wanderers not giving us pressure, says Mponda

Silver Strikers head coach Peter Mponda has repeated the same sentiments made on September 22 claiming that Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, though sitting second to them, but they are not giving them pressure for they do not have the experience to win the league.

Speaking on Wednesday after demolishing Mafco FC 6-1 at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe, Mponda said Wanderers is not giving them pressure and he is confident that Bankers will win the league.

“Tidanena kalekale kuti amene tikupikisananawowa sakutipatsa phuma kuti angawine league mwina anthu ena m’mbalimbalimu ndi amene akumawathandizira. Taonani game ya lero [Chimwemwe] Idana walandira kadi chifukwa akuwasangalalira ochemerera,” said Mponda.

Mponda also wondered why Super League of Malawi always send referee Mwayi Msungawa from Blantyre whenever Bankers have a crucial game.
Asked if he is suspecting match fixing, Mponda said there is no need to suspect because there is evidence supporting that.

“We cannot suspect, umboni ulipo, chifukwa chani nthawi zonse mumabweretsa Mwayi [Msungawa] kuchokera ku Blantyre, kodi ku Blantyre wotha kuimbira ndi yekha. Lero tamuchinya Mwayi yomwe ndi motivation yaikulu, tikukhulupiriranso kuti tikapita ku Blantyre adzamupatsanso Mwayi,” he said.

Mponda added: “When we see Mwayi, you are assured that you’re playing with 14 players, it’s very frustrating. why is it that when we have crucial games they send Mwayi to do their job, today he has failed, what he has achieved is to give a red card to our players, unnecessary cards,” he explained.

Ahead of Bullets game on Saturday, Mponda said beating Mwayi was a good motivation ahead of Bullets match.
“Today players are motivated that they beat Mwayi,” he said.

Silver Strikers still leads the league with 57 points from 25 games, Wanderers comes second with 53 points from 26 games, while Bullets, the defending champions comes third with 44 points from 25 games.

During the match, Bankers scored through Innocent Shema at 7 minutes, Gift Chunga at 41 and 50 minutes, Steve Mkweza scored in his own net at 64 minutes. Other two goals came from Misheck Seleman at 79 and Chimwemwe Idana at 85 minutes. Mafco scored a consolation goal from Yohane Malunga at 67 minutes.
