Mighty Wanderers FC has written the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) to reschedule their TNM Super League match against Ekhaya FC.
The match was originally set for Thursday this week, but Wanderers want the match to be rescheduled for next Wednesday.
In a letter to Sulom, Wanderers’ chief executive officer Panganeni Ndovi explained that the team needs more time to prepare.
He said several first-team players are currently on national team duty and will only return to Lilongwe on Wednesday.
Ndovi also said that playing the match on Thursday would not give the players enough time to recover and prepare.
“We believe that a short adjustment to the match date is both reasonable and consistent with the principles underpinning professional football administration,” Ndovi stated.
“Given the importance of maintaining the integrity and quality of the competition and in the spirit of ensuring fair play and adequate player welfare, we believe that this adjustment is necessary,” observed Ndovi.
He said that Wanderers is willing to work with Sulom to make the necessary logistical arrangements for the schedule change.
Wanderers won their first round meeting over Ekhaya through a Gaddie Chirwa strike.
