Talking to journalists at Chileka Airport in March on arrival from Burundi, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers head coach Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan said, “matimu atamanga.”
He meant that teams will find it difficult facing Wanderers as he promised happiness at Nomads, a team he described has spent years without happiness.
However, the past two weeks have been so painful to Nomads failing to find happiness in Lilongwe last week against Silver Strikers and maintaining their defeat record today following a 2-0 loss to Mzuzu City Hammers.
At Mzuzu Stadium, Wanderers started well giving hope to Nomads fans who patronised the match in large numbers thinking they will correct last weeks’ mistakes.
Ramadhan made three changes replacing goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa for William Thole, he also started with Balikinyo Mwakanyongo at the centre for Felix Zulu and Mphatso Kamanga started. Striker Clement Nyondo was also in the starting eleven for Christopher Kumwembe.
Just opening five minutes, Wanderers gave hope to their fans with Gaddie Chirwa and Nyondo having their attempts in front.
But it was not enough as they could not continue with that momentum. The home team regrouped and they were able to penetrate into Nomads half.
They announced their arrival in 20 minutes with Isaac Msiska scoring the beauty connecting a beautiful corner kick delivered by Eric Kaonga and keeper Thole had no chance to clear the ball.
Hammers’ former captain Blessings Singini looked eager to level the scoreline but his two attempts went over the bar.
Towards the half time, Ramadhan made substitution taking out Mphatso Kamanga for Zulu but there was nothing much yet from them.
However Zulu witnessed a disappointing time two minutes into the field as Msiska doubled Hammers’ lead to complete his brace. The goal came at exactly 45 minutes when a Hammers player was brought down inside the penalty box but the referee gave them an advantage that gave room to Msiska to beat Thole again.
Second half changes failed to bring the difference though Peter Cholopi who came in for Ahamadu Kung’unde was among players who missed their chances to score for Nomads as full time ended 2-0. Wanderers technical panel refused to grant interviews after the match.
