Once a shining star in the football league, has found itself lost in a sea of struggles this season, the team’s woes began with a coaching carousel, as they had to replace their coach not once, not twice but three times.
First, there was Christopher Nyambose, who signed a 7-month contract in January with high hopes.
However, his tenure was short-lived, lasting only three games and a single point, citing health reasons, Nyambose abruptly terminated his contract, leaving the team in disarray.
On April 25, Mapopa Msukwa stepped in as an interim coach, but his stint was equally brief.
Despite his best efforts, he managed only one win leaving the team’s fate hanging in the balance.
Enter former FCB Nyasa Big Bullets coach Rodgers Yasin on June 12, the latest head coach tasked with turning Bangwe’s fortunes around, while he has some success, including a thrilling 2-1 victory over Dedza Dynamos, the team remains stuck in the relegation zone.
As the season wears on, Bangwe All Stars finds itself in a desperate fight for survival, with each passing game, the pressure mounts, and the team’s loyal fans can only watch with bated breath, hoping that their beloved club will somehow manage to turn things around and avoid the dreaded drop.
Will Yasin be the coach to finally steady the ship, or will Bangwe’s struggles continue?
The team is second from bottom with 12 points from 19 games. Out of those games, Bangwe who enjoyed their run last year has only two wins and 6 draws.
But Yasin thinks things will be alright: “We will keep pushing; our fans should not lose hope.”
