Zambia side Zanaco FC has signed Malawi talented midfielder Robert Gomez Saizi after a successful two-week trial.
His agent Haroon Kassim has confirmed the news with Wa Ganyu in Malawi where he said the player who plays for Bangwe All Stars in Malawi has penned a two-and-half-year deal with Zanaco.
According to Kassim, the two clubs have agreed an amount of MK13.5 million to sell the player which is a bargain from MK20 million.
The player will pocket MK14 million as signing on fees.
Bangwe owner Mphatso Jika confirmed about the fee and said the two clubs have also agreed on terms in an event that Zanaco decides to sell the player to another club within or outside Zambia.
“In the deal, there is a clause which states that if they decide to sell the player, then we will be entitled to get 20 percent from that deal,” he said.
The 20-year-old winger has been in high demand in Malawi following an impressive start in the elite league scoring 9-league goals with four assists.
He will reunite with striker Chawanangwa Kaonga who is at the club for a third season.
He will also be a third Malawi player playing in Zambia following Chifundo Mphasi and Kaonga.
In Malawi, Saizi was approached by champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in the 2022 season but he turned down the offer saying Bullets wanted him to join their reserve side.
“I thought I was ready to face the realities of life playing in the elite league, otherwise the offer was good,” he said.
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers was another club to approach the player for a permanent deal this year but the deal flopped following a Zanaco call.
Malawi’s head coach Patrick Mabedi trusted the player and he featured in the Cosafa games last year in South Africa and also in the Africa Cup Qualifiers which saw Malawi failing to make the grade.
