Zathapo ku Eswatini! It’s over between Meke Mwase, Charles Manda and Moneni Pirates

By Wa Ganyu

Former Flames and Mighty Wanderers head coach Meke Mwase, together with his assistant Charles Manda, have stepped down from their roles at Moneni Pirates in Eswatini.

The two parties have agreed to part ways by mutual consent. Wa Ganyu can confirm that Mwase informed the club he has a family matter back home, which prompted his decision to resign.

Mwase confirmed the development, saying: “I would like to thank the fans and officials. As you have heard from the CEO, I have some family problems at home that I need to sort out, hence my resignation. I thank you for the support.

When asked why he also chose to leave, assistant coach Manda said:
“Yes, this marks the end of the road for us. I was recommended by head coach Mwase. As he is stepping down, I also have to step down since I was recommended by him. I hope we will meet again. We wish the team all the best.

The duo depart after back-to-back league defeats: a 1–0 loss to Nsingizini Hotspurs at the King Sobhuza Stadium, followed by a 2–1 home defeat to Manzini Sea Birds FC.

Mwase and Manda were unveiled as the club’s coaching team on 20 July this year. The club president and chief executive officer have accepted their resignations and are yet to appoint replacements.
