Silver Strikers have fired their head coach, Peter Mgangira, after he spent nearly two seasons with the Lilongwe-based football powerhouse.

Mgangira was appointed head coach for the club in December 2024 following the resignation of Peter Mponda, who was Mgangira’s boss at the club.

In a statement released on Tuesday evening, the Bankers say the decision for the two parties to part ways has come following the team’s performance in the current season.

“This decision and agreement follow the performance of the team to date. The decision was reached amicably and by mutual agreement between the club and Mr Mgangira…,” reads part of the statement.

Mgangira has been sacked just a few days after the Bankers lost miserably 5-0 in Blantyre against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in the FDH Premiership.

Mgangira won the 2025 FDH Bank Cup after beating Mighty Wanderers on penalties 5-4 after a 1-1 draw in the regulation time.

Silver Strikers also finished third in the 2025 TNM Super League and reached the Airtel Top 8 final.

In the 2026 season he guided the Bankers to 29 points from 15 games, finishing the first round in third place with a record of 8 wins, 5 draws and 2 losses.
