Details about defender Ahamadu Kung’unde!

Defender Ahamadu Kung’unde has not been training with Mighty Wanderers. Bone of contention is his salary.

Wa Ganyu has found out that Kung’unde receives K200 000 as his monthly salary since the day he signed his professional contract with Wanderers.

In January 2024, Kung’unde had asked Wanderers to hike his salary, a request which Wanderers had agreed, but later the club changed tune. “We will do that in June.”

Come June, nothing happened as per Wa Ganyu understanding. “They said we will do that in January.”

Come January 2025, the player kept reminding the club that they keep promising him that his salary will be revised upwards.

Wa Ganyu has confirmed that, Kung’unde joined Wanderers when he was working elsewhere (not football related) where he was getting a monthly salary of K500 000.

Although the defender was getting little from Wanderers, he was okay with it since he had somewhere to bank on.

However, we can confirm that the other employer has terminated the contract with Kung’unde because of his commitment with Wanderers.

“Most of the time, he is busy with Wanderers. Hence, we decided to terminate our agreement after December 2024,” the source told Wa Ganyu.

This means that Kung’unde will now bank on a Wanderers salary alone, which is just K200 000. He rents a house at K130 000 meaning that he does remain with just K70 000 for other monthly expenses. This is why Kung’unde is pressing Wanderers to walk the talk and hike his salary, a thing that is long overdue.

It is at this point that Kung’unde has decided to stop training with Wanderers to force the club to consider his case for now.

Kung’unde joined Mighty Wanderers senior team from their Reserve side. He has helped the team by featuring in almost all games they played in the second half of the 2024 season. When defender Lawrence Chaziya was away for months in DR Congo, it was Kung’unde who took charge. He later replaced Peter Cholopi and, at times, Stanley Sanudi.

Wa Ganyu contacted Kung’unde but he referred us to his manager who could not answer our calls.
