The Malawi National Women’s Football Team head coach, Lovemore Fazili, has urged Malawians to turn up in large numbers to support the Scorchers in their crucial match against Angola today, saying the team is on the verge of making history.

Fazili has emphasised the importance of winning the fixture, noting that playing on home soil gives the team a strong advantage.

“I can assure you that today is a must-win game,” he said. “People should come and get behind us. I promise a win.”

The coach has expressed confidence in his players, adding that the team has worked hard to correct previous mistakes and is now fully prepared.

“We are ready. All the players are fit, in good form, and eager to play,” he added.

Fazili has also provided a positive update on injuries, confirming that the entire squad is available for selection.

If Malawi win today’s match, they will qualify for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) for the first time in history.

The Scorchers take on Angola this afternoon at Bingu National Stadium, following a goalless draw in the first leg.
