Creck cracked as Eagles extend their winless run

Seasons of pain and hopelessness are not ending for the Apostle Kawinga boys, Creck Sporting Club, after failing to register a win in six FDH Bank Premiership games having managed only two draws and conceding nine goals despite changing technical panel.

On Saturday, the home side suffered a 2-0 defeat in the hands of Blue Eagles for the police side to break the deadlock in their head-to-head meetings with Creck  at A.G. Dimba Stadium in Mchinji.

Eagles’ win marked first-ever victory over Creck, having drawn the previous two league encounters. Their first meeting ended goalless, while the second produced a 1-1 draw.

Tonic Viyuyi was the hero for the Area 30-based side, opening the scoring in the 14th minute before adding a second goal deep into stoppage time in the 90+4th minute to secure maximum points.

The victory lifted Eagles to 13 points, level with league leaders Silver Strikers, who edged MAFCO FC 1-0 at Silver Stadium.

Ernest Petro scored the decisive goal in the 50th minute to hand the Central Bankers all three points and send them to the top of the table on goal difference.

At Dedza Stadium, Luanar Mitundu FC recorded an emphatic 3-0 victory over Civil Service United to register their second win of the season.

Moses Nyirenda broke the deadlock in the 41st minute before Raheem Mtondera struck twice in the second half, finding the net in the 68th minute and again in stoppage time to seal a comfortable win for the Mitundu-based side.

Meanwhile, at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre, Ekhaya FC continued their impressive campaign with a 2-0 victory stopping a flying Masters FC.

Allen Chihana scored both goals for the Cowboys, helping Ekhaya collect maximum points and move up to fourth position on the league table.
