Mighty Wanderers have suspended head coach Bob Mpinganjira with immediate effect following their 2-1 defeat to Ekhaya FC in the Airtel Top 8 final at Bingu National Stadium on Sunday 30th August 2026.

The defeat comes at a critical time for the Nomads, who are preparing for their CAF Champions League preliminary-round clash against Tanzanian giants Simba SC.

The two sides will meet in the first leg in Malawi on Thursday September, with the return leg scheduled for 11–13 September 2026.

In a statement signed by Board Secretary Chancy Gondwe, Wanderers said an interim head coach will be announced within the next 48 hours, alongside possible changes to the technical panel.

The club now faces a major task of regrouping and preparing for the continental assignment just days after losing the Airtel Top 8 crown.
