Mighty Wanderers fans donate to Chiradzulu District Hospital

Supporters of Mighty Wanderers, under the Welfare Supporters group, on Sunday donated assorted items to Chiradzulu District Hospital as part of efforts to support and encourage patients receiving treatment at the facility.

The donation, valued at K2 million, included essential goods such as salt, soya pieces, soap and sugar. The initiative focused on assisting patients who lack basic necessities while also uplifting their morale.

Speaking to WaGanyu after the handover ceremony, the group’s chairperson, Kenneth Kalonga, said the initiative was driven by the need to connect with patients and offer encouragement during difficult times.

Kalonga described the donation as a starting point for continued charitable work, with plans to carry out similar activities in the future. He also called for continued unity among supporters through regular contributions to sustain such efforts.

“We came together to make this possible. I am proud of the unity shown by fellow supporters in contributing towards this cause. As supporters, we have a responsibility to engage in charitable work. As the season begins, we also hope for a strong performance and to defend the league,” he said.

Meanwhile, Acting District Nursing Officer Taonga Mumba said the donation will provide meaningful support to patients who lack access to basic necessities.

“This will go a long way in helping patients who have nothing. What has been done today is meaningful and can inspire others to do the same,” said Mumba.

A total of 60 supporters took part in the initiative, highlighting the unity and commitment of Mighty Wanderers supporters to community support.

Wanderers open the 2026 season with a charity shield match against city rivals, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.
